Fuxi & Nüwa 伏羲女媧
Come, let me take a wedding portrait of you...since the rule of marriage is set by you!
It is said that the marriage norms from matriarchal society to patriarchal society in Chinese culture is set by Nüwa. Though Fuxi and Nüwa are different legends in pre-Qin era, after Han Dynasty they became a combination of a pair of Gods with human-heads and snake-bodies with tails coupling. The image composition and forms of tails coupling had also gradually modeled to DNA's double helix.
Depending on the era and location, the Gods' hairstyles and costumes have also been changing along with time and adapting with indigenous culture. Demigods from ancient China were wearing the Hu clothing from western Han and Tang Dynasties, as if a drama through time and space.
In a global village era of now, why not put on western wedding gowns or cheongsam from Qing Dynasty, or western style clothes, reformed from western military uniform, or even wedding clothes from indigenous tribes.
If, it was photography which was invented at your time, would the descendents lose imagination space because of your vivid images? Clothes and style would not have evolved with time, would we have seen the human-head and snake-body physical structures?
